Food & Farms - Connect - How to Search the Resource Guide

This searchable Resource Guide covers just about every topic that concerns Maine farmers and agricultural producers. We will be updating the information as time allows, but at the very least will have yearly updates. Each resource has been classified as as one of eight types. (Five are different kinds of organizations that provide goods and services. The other three provide information only.)

There are three ways you can search the guide. Scroll down or click on one of the types here:

Keyword search :: Contact Search :: Advanced Search

To do a simple Keyword Search for a topic or subject in which you are interested, such as beef as in our example. You would type in the word "beef" (no quote marks if there is only one word) in the box and press the GO button.
Many possibilities are found using this key word. The number of resources as well as how many pages there are is given on the results page. Here we go to Page 2 and find that the Maine Highland Cattle Association is listed with a blue underlined link. When you click on that link...
...you will go to a detail page giving all the information we have in our database for this specific resource including contact person, address, web site, phone number, and a description.
On the other hand, if you know the name of a person you suspect has something to do with beef, you can do a simple Contact Search on this same page by typing in the name of the person and pressing the GO button.
If the person is listed in our database as the contact for any resource, or even more than one resource, the results page will give that resource with an underlined link to click for further detail. (In this example the detail would be the same as in the above detail example since it happens to be the same organization.)
There is an Advanced Search possible also. Choose this search by clicking the underlined words right above the Keyword Search box. You can limit your search to one of the categories and/or sub categories in our database which will appear in a drop down list when you click on any of the [Select] bars. Here we are looking for sources of capital, limited to grants, and hopefully to those available in Maine. (The fewer choices and limitations you make the more results will appear.) Be sure to press the GO button once you have made your choices.
Since we did not limit this search any further, there are many results to choose from. The type of resource and the sub categories into which it fits are also shown (these are for reference in future searches and to help you get your bearings, they are not clickable).
When you click on one of the blue underlined links (the NRCS in York County for our example), you will see the detail page for that resource with address, phone and whatever contact information we have in our database.
